Music
WORSHIPWe love singing hymns on Sunday and recently started a hymn song worship where members can request their favorite hymns and sing together.
CHOIROn choir Sunday, it is always a marvel to see all the empty seats in the pews after the singers take their places up front. Led by the Choir Director, First Universalist Church of Essex’s choir is top-notch, and hearing them sing puts a tear in your eye and a spring in your step! All are welcome to sing with us!
BANDA few years ago, some church members wanted to bring more contemporary music into worship and formed a band that meets monthly and serves worship every six weeks. Now playing its third season, the ‘All Play Band’ provides an opportunity to learn and enjoy music with friends. Our first purpose is to have fun together, and our second is to enhance the service by bringing in some great songs not found in the UU hymnal. We perform 5-6 times a year during the service and have played close to 90 songs so far. We are always looking for people to join, particularly people who want to improve their skills with others or who like to sing in the car or shower! All are welcome to play/sing in the practices, even if they’re nervous about performing on Sunday. Contact Jerry Gould or Tom Duff to be placed on the email list to join.
COMMUNITY MUSICWe also open our doors to community music by hosting local music groups and events. Contact us if you would like to use our space for an event!
EVENTSAnd just because we can’t help ourselves, we even find a way to weave music into our fundraising! Our annual fundraising talent show is a testament to our musical passion with its music-rich performances from youth.
